SCREENINGS
There are several screenings that are done every year in school.
VISION - all students will have their vision tested yearly.
HEARING - Students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 3 will have their hearing tested by the R.I. School for the Deaf every year.
DENTAL - We have a very special opportunity here at Harris School as we are connected with Thundermist Dental Clinic. Look for permission slips to come home during September. If you sign up for this service, your child will receive a dental exam by a qualified Dentist, a cleaning and sealants from a hygienist and if fillings or extractions are needed, your child can be seen on the Molar Express. The Molar Express is a mobile dental lab sponsored by McDonalds and has all the equipment that can be found in a dental office.
When these screenings are done, if there are any problems that were noted with your child, a notice and a referral form will be sent home. Please try to follow up as soon as possible with the appropriate clinician so that your child' s education will not suffer. It is also important that the School Nurse be notified about any follow up care.
